The Unraveling of Shelby Forrest, Donna's debut novel, has won The Independent Author Network's Finalist in Best Romance Romance for 2015 and Best First Novel for 2015 as well as placed as Winner in the Indie Author Excellence book awards. It also placed in Pacific Rim International Book Festival, San Francisco Festival of Books, Southern California and Hollywood Festivals of Books.
Earlier this month, "Cry the Darkness" won "Honorable Mention" in the category of General Non-Fiction at the International Paris Book Festival!
Donna was just notified that Cry the Darkness has also won "Winner" in the Women's Issues category for the 2014 National Indie Excellence Awards. Donna was told that her book "truly embodies the excellence that this award was created to celebrate, and we salute you and your fine work."
Donna is spending her summer writing the sequel to Cry the Darkness, which is Cherish the Light: Breaking Free of the Dark (which will be available this year).
She has just released an expanded edition of Cry the Darkness: One Woman's Triumph Over The Tragedy of Incest and it is now available as an Ebook through Amazon.com's Kindle and can ordered in printed book format through Amazon or through my Dr. Donna website.
One of Donna's foundational teachings is that others seem quick to offer up criticism, put downs and sarcastic remarks which can cut to our core. Donna looks at this as causing us to feel like frogs (from the fairy tale idea of kiss the frog and he or she becomes the prince or princess). This big cute frog she is wearing is to remind you not to let others stir these negative feelings up in you! Dr. Eric Berne referred to this dynamic as "accepting other's invitation for us to feel not okay." DO NOT LET OTHERS DO THIS TO YOUI!"
"Donna, your class last night was super! Hubby and I both gained a deeper awareness of male/female relationships. We loved learning the Love Languages... So amazingly true. And the new research on the differences between the male and female brains is astonishing. Makes total sense. Great truth and research for our marriage and my writing. Thank you, Donna!" - AV
